Melita has 16 years of health industry experience as both a manager and consultant having worked in both Australia and the UK.  Building on her time as a clinician, and after completing her MBA Melita moved into consulting where she is currently a Senior Manager at EY. Melita is particularly interested in effecting patient centered, value based and digitally enhanced care across public health strategy. Melita has supported key public health transformation initiatives across Australia. Her digital health experiences encompass advisory and assurance roles across all stages of the ICT project life cycle, digital infrastructure planning, digital command centers and clinical service redesign using virtual enablers. She is a Board member for a Victorian Health Service and a Financial Committee member of a not for profit public disability service. Melita also is a Director of RehabMinder a hand therapy app where she continues to help develop the use of digital enablers for patient and therapists to drive and  supporting hand therapy outcomes. Melita blends her clinical experiences with contemporary concepts in health care including strategy, design thinking and management to effectively engage with stakeholders across the sector.

Kate is a healthcare professional who led the Imaging and Theatres application teams through the successful implementation of a Digital Health Record program across all public health facilities within the ACT in late 2022. Kate is a Registered Nurse by background with a Master’s in Health Management. She has worked across various digital health projects over the course of the last 10 years and is passionate about digital innovation and implementing transformational change.

I am a passionate doctor with a strong concurrent interest in digital health. I have a background of training in Ophthalmology, and currently pursuing specialist training in medical administration and MBA (Healthcare Management). Whilst clinical medicine is extremely rewarding, I aspire to make a difference for larger number of patients by improving patient safety and quality of care through technology and innovation. I have been part of the Medical Informatics team at Monash Health and played a significant role in the implementation of Electronic Medical Records and the design of the digital workflows for the Victorian Heart Hospital. I am a Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA), and completed the one year post graduate course on Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership from Harvard Medical School. I would love to consolidate my leadership skills and broaden my professional and personal networks through this program. On a more personal note, I very much value work-life balance and love spending time with my family.

I am a practice consultant with the Nursing and Midwifery Directorate at Central Coast Local Health District. After completing the science degree in marine biology and biotechnology, I became a nurse so I could travel as a professional tennis umpire and work at the same time. I never looked back. I have worked as a critical care nurse for over 15 years before joining the clinical governance team to investigate clinical incidents and to promote patient safety. I have been involved in the clinical informatic domain as a nurse lead and change manager for major eMR projects since eMeds roll out in 2017. Working as a business analyst during the COVID pandemic in 2021, I had opportunity to experience rapid digital transformation and encouraged me to develop passion in change management. Now as a qualified business analyst, I am interested in process mapping and data visualisation to drive evidence-based practice and patient safety. My goal is to conduct more research and projects so that we have better understanding of the interaction between digital platform and clinicians by analysing the workflows and needs of clinicians and by studying human (clinician) factor and behaviour. Hopefully the work will lead us into smoother transition to the Single Digital Patient Record in NSW. It will be an enormous challenge for us, but I see as a great opportunity for the clinicians and the consumers to develop user-centred product with transparency and continuity. I have been involved in the world of digital health for a long time and seen so much change over years. By joining this program, I hope to share inspiration and motivations with digital health leaders from public and private sectors for the future of our health care. On my days off, surfing is my best relaxation. Still love the ocean and marine creatures (not so much sharks!).

Sophie is an Organisational Change Management Consultant with Leidos. Sophie started her career as a Registered Nurse, and passionately served at the frontline of healthcare for 16 years across Acute, Community, and Military roles. She transitioned into Organisational Change Management in 2007 and has worked in several digital transformation programs in state and federal government. She believes in leveraging the strength of purpose and depth of expertise of health care staff to overcome the challenges of digital transformation in the face of post COVID exhaustion and change fatigue across the industry. Sophie is passionate in helping organisations develop and shape the culture required to maximise the benefits of digital health innovation.

Sophie has worked in primary and tertiary care for over 10 years – first as a pharmacist and then as an electronic medical records (EMR) analyst, with a focus on quality and safe use of medications. Over the last five years, Sophie has been involved in maintaining and improving the Parkville EMR, which operates across four metropolitan health services in Melbourne. Her experiences have developed her understanding of the complexities within the industry from multiple perspectives. Sophie is passionate about empowering patients to navigate the health system and participate in their own care. Her areas of interest are human-centric strategies in digital health, digital twin technology, and harmonisation of applications within the health ecosystem.

Shruti is a Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) and the Manager of the Data and Insights Team in Queensland Health’s Health Reform Office. She has over 13 years of experience in the public and private healthcare sectors in both Australia and India. Shruti has a strong background in project management, data analysis and interpretation, clinical redesign, continuous improvement, and change management. She has worked on a number of projects that enable service improvement through digital transformation. Shruti is passionate about digital innovation in healthcare and an advocate of data driven decision making for better patient care.

Having worked in healthcare for over 20 years, Renee is passionate about working on programs to improve outcomes for clinicians and patients through digital initiatives. Renee has a background across rural and metro health in Health information Management, Data Management, Quality Improvement and has led successful implementations of digital projects from both the health service and supplier perspectives. Renee enjoys using her previous diverse experience across healthcare sectors to engage stakeholders to achieve successful digital change. Renee is a Senior Project Manager for Alcidion where she has been responsible for project delivery across the Alcidion suite of products and services. Currently Renee is leading the delivery of the Alcidion product for the Commonwealth Department of Defence Health Knowledge Management Solution. Renee loves a good coffee and exploring the South Coast of NSW.

Rebekah is a CHIA certified, proven EMR implementation professional with extensive local and international project and technical experience with Epic and Cerner. She has project lifecycle experience from both the vendor and client perspective in various health services across Australia and the USA. She recently completed an Epic implementation with a large tertiary hospital in Chicago, USA, to replace Cerner through the COVID-19 global pandemic. Along with her EMR implementation experience, she also has a strong understanding of clinical workflows and how they relate to privacy, security, revenue, coding and storage of health data and information. Rebekah is working at Deloitte with their Technology, Strategy & Transformation practice specialising in Health Technology.

Judith currently works at Bupa as a senior manager looking after a team providing frameworks and guidance supporting stakeholders to use health content, research & industry insights, and safety & quality data to design and deliver high-quality, evidence-informed healthcare. Judith trained as a pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from University of Sydney and also holds an Arts degree in Media & Cultural Studies from Macquarie University. She’s enjoyed bringing together these different areas in a career that’s so far spanned being a pharmacist-in-charge in community pharmacy to designing and developing health content for health professional, corporate and public audiences to feeding her passion for digital health over the past 10 years working on customer-centred healthcare solutions. Beyond thinking about of the future of healthcare Judith enjoys coffee, responding to friends and family with cute animal memes, and working her way through a year-long Agatha Christie mysteries reread project.

I am a highly motivated and experienced Operational and Strategic Manager and Registered Midwife/Nurse with effective communication skills, expertise in leading project teams and a demonstrated history of working in the health industry. I am passionate about making a positive impact on people. I have deep contextual knowledge of the healthcare sector with particular emphasis on community-based care. Leading teams within the healthcare sector, I embrace a consultative approach to management, building relationships and partnerships to maximise effective opportunities, innovative approaches and digital solutions in the health care system. I am passionate about providing the absolute best patient care and supporting hospital avoidance and community-based care. I have delivered over 3,000 babies in the Northern suburbs of Adelaide and have been a proud recipient of a Nurse of the Year Award. I have an MBA from the University of Adelaide. Outside of my work, I appreciate valuable time with my family, walking in the Adelaide Hills and looking after my two adorable Scottish terriers.

Kayley Lyons, PharmD, PhD, MS is the Digital Health Workforce and Development Lead at University of Melbourne’s Centre for Digital Transformation of Health. Previously, she completed the Ware Research Fellow in Pharmacy Education and Leadership at Monash University, a PhD in the Learning Sciences at University of North Carolina (UNC), a Masters of Science in Pharmacy Health-System Administration at UNC, and a Doctor of Pharmacy at South Dakota State University. At the Centre, she leads a team to design, implement, and evaluate the following digital health education programs: 1) the Learning Health-Systems (LHS) Academy fellowship program, 2) Applied LHS Short Course, 3) a national FHIR training program (funded by ADHA and in collaboration with CSIRO and HL7 Australia), 4) embedding of digital health content into entry-to-practice degrees, 4) and subjects, professional certificate, and graduate certificate in Digital Transformation.

Chamaine Lovett has been innovating in Healthcare for over 25 years with 18 years in Digital Health and Informatics globally. Chamaine has a passion for digital health and the positive impact it can bring to patient care. Chamaine has a Clinical background which she believes harvests an understanding of front line healthcare and clinical workflow whilst her business leadership experience ensures success for clients and partners. Her clinical career began in the UK and Chamaine has utilised her passion for Healthcare and Innovation within senior commercial roles with Global Software vendors in Health. Chamaine currently works for eHealth NSW responsible for Customer Engagement across Rural local health districts in NSW, working collaboratively with the Rural CEO’s and CIO’s on partnership and strategy to tackle inequity in our regional communities.

Sofie Karamzalis has a background in Health Information Management and has worked in the digital health space for over 15 years and in health for 25 years.  Sofie’s current portfolio includes 3 key service departments within The Royal Women’s Hospital.  This incorporates, Electronic Medical Record, Business Intelligence & Analytics, and Health Information Services & Archives.  Demonstrated records of achievement include implementation of several clinical systems within various Health Services, a leader in digital transformation and well respected for her experience knowledge and insights in day to day operations relating to information management, process flow and funding. Sofie was awarded the Chief Executives Award for Leadership in 2020 at The Royal Women’s Hospital in recognition of her work with the implementation of a shared  electronic medical record in the Parkville precinct.  In particular for leading The Royal Women’s from business case inception to implementation from a largely paper based patient record.  Sofie was recognised as a Brilliant Women in Digital Health in 2022 for this mammoth achievement and the benefits that continue to be recognised as a result of this implementation including the HIMSS level 6 EMRAM Clinical Adoption rating achieved for the organisation. Sofie is passionate about partnering with others to improve care for the community through the use of technology and data to make a difference for health outcomes for all Australians.

Anna has a passion to contribute to a positive change in the quality, safety, and cost of patient care with the application of digital health initiatives to improve clinical outcomes. She has over 18 years of experience in health IT, with a background in ICT, interoperability, and healthcare interfacing. She has an interest in looking at clinical workflows, understanding the complexity of clinical practice, and problem-solving. In her current role as Delivery Lead for Integration as part of the Technical Services Team at Alcidion, her focus is interoperability and integration across all Alcidion solution offerings and products with digital health systems in Australia, New Zealand and UK. In her previous roles, Anna has had international experience in this domain in the US, South-East Asia and the Middle East.

Vickie Irving joined Telstra Health in 2015 as their Clinical Health Specialist to lead the development and implementation of innovative, eHealth-enabled service delivery models. With a passion for continuous improvement and innovation, accompanied by extensive clinical, healthcare administration and ICT experience, Vickie Irving has successfully driven the development and implementation of large-scale business transformation initiatives to improve access to healthcare, enhance customer experience, improve productivity, streamline processes and reduce unnecessary costs. Prior to joining Telstra Health, Vickie worked in a variety of clinical roles for Queensland Health, before specialising in strategic and health service planning. She then transitioned into clinical service redesign, lean methodology and process improvement where she lead a number of highly successful state-wide service improvement and clinical redesign initiatives involving emergency department, elective surgery, specialist outpatient and community-based services, with measurable impacts on access and patient flow.

Felicity is a seasoned clinician and leader with a strong commitment to enhancing health outcomes through the strategic deployment of digital technology. With over two decades of experience in healthcare environments, including IT management at the executive level, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her current role as Physician Executive with Intersystems. Felicity is driven by a desire to make a difference and leave a lasting impact. Felicity understands that healthcare is both a business and a personal endeavour, requiring a delicate balance of efficiency and empathy. She is passionate about finding innovative solutions that bridge the gap between technology and human compassion, delivering improved outcomes for patients and the healthcare system. She loves online cognitive communities and plays games, always in touch with the child, which makes her curious and brave.

Dr Carmon Guy is a General Practitioner with a passion for Rural and Remote Health. She trained at James Cook University and has worked in a variety of clinical and non-clinical positions while based in North Queensland. She has spent most of her career working as a Senior Medical Officer at Cooktown Hospital where she was involved in emergency care as well as primary care clinics to remote communities. She currently works with the Hospital-In-The-Home (HITH) service at Cairns Hospital and has developed an interest in virtual care and remote patient monitoring. Carmon is also a Medical Educator with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and was involved in the redevelopment of the online education program for rural doctors. Throughout her career she has seen the benefits of digital platforms which have enhanced patient care and increased education and training opportunities for clinicians, particularly, in rural and remote locations. While there have been many advancements in recent years, there remain gaps in access to care and inefficiencies within our healthcare system which could be addressed with digital health solutions. Carmon is looking forward to the Women in Digital Health Leadership program and the amazing opportunity to learn from other participants who also have an interest in digital healthcare solutions.

I am a Registered Nurse with an ICU background currently working as a Senior Health Projects Manager with Royal Flying Doctor Service Central Operations (SA/NT). The last 20 years of my career have been spent working on digital health projects and initiatives including working as an ICU Adoption Manager for the Electronic Health Record roll out in South Australia. I have been able to transition that skill currently working as a key lead and clinical business analyst for the national EHR project for RFDS. Working for RFDS, after 28 years in acute care, has broadened my knowledge and skillset and enabled me to understand the unique health care needs of our most remote and often disadvantaged communities. I have welcomed the opportunity to develop, support and implement digital systems for staff and consumers to enhance safe and efficient care provision and improve health outcomes for people ‘no matter where they live, work or play’. Having recently completed a Graduate Certificate of Digital Health with RMIT I am really looking forward to expanding my leadership potential in the Digital Health space and working with and learning from a likeminded group of ladies from across the country in the WiDH Leadership Program.

As the Team Lead – GP, Specialist and Allied Health at the Royal Flying Doctors Service in Victoria, I bring over a decade of experience in not-for-profit organizations to my role. My passion lies in working with individuals and communities to improve their access to specialist telehealth services, and ensuring that these appointments have a positive impact on their lives. With a focus on placing the human experience at the centre, I am dedicated to exploring the advancements in digital health and finding ways to expand our services while maintaining strong social connections. My work is guided by the three key values of better physical health, better mental health, and better social connection. I believe in the importance of collaborating with local organisations and community leaders to understand the unique needs of each community, and tailoring our services accordingly. I also believe in encouraging patient feedback and engagement, utilizing technology to enhance social interaction, providing additional resources and support services, and continuously evaluating and improving our programs. Through these efforts, I am committed to promoting better health outcomes and stronger connections within the communities we serve.

Karen is a clinical pharmacist by background with 8 years’ experience in the public hospital setting. Her current role is the Senior Digital Health Pharmacist at Alfred Health, and she is involved in managing a team that looks after the maintenance of digital health systems relating to medication management. Karen’s expertise includes working with EMR, pharmacy dispensing systems, infusion pump software, and automated dispensing cabinets. Karen has played a key role in the implementation of smart pump and EMR interoperability- the first implementation of its kind in Australia. Karen is passionate about the potential of digital health to enhance patient care through fostering genuine and cooperative relationships with clinicians. She looks forward to learning about leadership and collaborating with a talented cohort of women in the Women in Digital Health Leadership Program.

Karen currently leads the Virtual Care and Digital Health practice at PwC Australia. She spends the majority of her time supporting health organisations around Australia in developing and reviewing their digital health strategies, supporting business case development for digital health initiatives, co-designing digitally-enabled models of care with clinicians and consumers, and implementing digital health initiatives. Karen is a thought leader in Virtual Care and has authored a number of articles on the topic. Karen is most passionate about improving Australia’s health care system by leveraging technology to improve access to timely care, enhancing the patients and clinician experience, and in improving health outcomes of the population through prevention and timely intervention.

Anita is a Business Development Executive at Telstra Health, with over a decade experience in digital transformation and digital health. She is passionate about improving health outcomes through digital innovation. With a background in project implementation, Anita has a strongly believes in using technology to make a positive impact. Having worked on a number of digital health projects in QLD, she has developed an understanding of the healthcare landscape and the ability to navigate complex issues. Anita enjoys working work collaboratively with clients to understand their needs, goals, and pain points in order to provide solutions to support their digital health strategy through technology and innovation, so that they can provide the best care for their patients and community. Anita is constantly seeking out new and innovative ways to use technology in healthcare and is a true believer in the power of digital health in making a difference.

I began my career as an Occupational Therapist working in Geriatrics, Pain Management and Neurology Rehabilitation. I then took on responsibility for mandatory data reporting for Allied Health for Ballarat Health Services (BHS). During this time, I helped develop the specifications for, then configured and implemented a system to capture clinical activity across a number of data sets. In 2009 I become the Project Manager for the roll out of a Digital Medical Record (DMR) at BHS. After the project completion I became the Business Analyst for this system. From 2016 -2018 I took a secondment to roll out the BHS DMR to 9 other agencies in the Grampians Rural Health Alliance (GRHA). Since then, I have completed my CHIA qualification and moved into management. I currently have responsibility for the DMR, PAS and Finance Systems across GRHA and the Referral Management System at Grampians Health – Ballarat.

Ann is a Digital Health doctor, experienced medical professional, and medical administrator in training. With a passion for utilizing technology wisely to improve patient care and clinician wellbeing, Ann has been a part of the digital health team at Western Health since 2019 and has led the implementation of a secure instant clinical messaging application, enabled paperless medical imaging requests, video telehealth and has been instrumental in the design, build and optimisation of clinical and digital workflows and functionality within the EMR at Western Health. Ann completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2015 at the University of Melbourne, Applied Learning Health Systems Course by the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health, is a Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA), and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health and Master of Health Leadership and Management (MPH/MHLM) with the University of New South Wales.

I bring a wealth of analytical skills and knowledge of the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries to the business. Through the power of data science, I endeavour to shape long term health outcomes by enlisting my understanding of how data can be utilised to inform policy and drive commercial decision making. I have worked across a wide range of areas including primary and secondary disease prevention, improving health care access through digital solutions, patient safety and overall health experience, with an overarching objective to deliver better health outcomes. I am passionate about digital health and the future opportunities it could bring and am looking forward to being part of the Women in Digital health Leadership program. Through this program, I hope to become a more effective leader, advocate for the use of digital technologies in healthcare, and ultimately play a role in improving patient outcomes and advancing the healthcare industry.

Olivia has 12 years’ experience working in the healthcare industry, most recently as a Senior Manager in EY’s digital health consulting practice. Starting out as a Speech Pathologist, Olivia worked in the Western Australian Department of Health for 6 years before making the switch to health care consulting in Canberra, gaining an MBA with Distinction along the way. Since joining EY, Olivia has been involved with a number of digital health initiatives across Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Olivia is passionate about contributing to the digital enablement of the full spectrum of health care – be it in federal policy development, through to front line service delivery – to benefit the well-being of everyone in our community.Olivia is also a committee member of the ACT AIDH Branch.

I lead the Medical Operations team at Eucalyptus VC. We provide telehealthcare for patients within a variety of fields including obesity, men’s health and fertility management. I started my career in clinical medicine, working across New Zealand in multiple rural and regional centers. I hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Auckland, with a focus on medical research. My interests align more closely to healthcare systems, and I transitioned out of clinical care into management consulting with Bain & Co. in 2019, before moving to Eucalyptus. My current role involves designing and implementing the best experience possible for our patients. Digital health needs to play a significant role in the future of sustainable healthcare in Australasia, and requires collaboration from its advocates to ensure we reach that future.
