Joanne Foster

Nurse informatician, world traveler, innovator, challenger

Jo is a registered nurse and nurse informatician involved in health and nursing informatics for over 25 years and is a foundational member of Nursing Informatics Australia.

Jo is involved nationally and internationally in health and nursing informatics on committees, research projects, presentations at conferences and published in both texts and journals. Jo is currently Nursing Informatics Australia (NIA) Secretary, NIA representative on IMIA NI, IMIA NI – Nursing Education Sub Committee, IMIA NI Vice Chair – Admin & Finances (2012 to 2016), Australian College of Nursing (ACN) Representative on Standards Australia – IT-14.

Jo has also held representative roles for NIA on national committees for nursing, health informatics education and clinical terminology. Jo is passionate about Health/Nursing Informatics and continues to push for change within healthcare reform. Currently Jo is an academic/researcher at the School of Nursing at QLD University of Technology, Brisbane, QLD, Australia.
