The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH) are releasing our joint priorities regarding the digital transformation of healthcare in Australia.

In Shaping the future of digital health: Policy priorities for Parliament we have identified three key priorities, along with practical solutions and benefits, that will help deliver a world-leading health system for all Australians. Namely:

• Upskill the entire health workforce in digital health – Fund and implement the National Digital Health Capability Action Plan and mandate minimum digital capabilities for all health professions.
• Fund mechanisms for healthcare professionals using digital health – Adopt funding models that value and incentivise the use of digital tools to drive patient and system outcomes.
• Implement the AI in Healthcare National Policy Roadmap - Ensure safe, ethical and effective use of AI in healthcare.

Supporting these initiatives, along with current national digital health strategies and programs, will help position Australia as a world leader in digital health, delivering better care for every Australian.
