Australasian Health Informatics Competency Framework (AHICF) Update
The Australasian Health Informatics Competency Framework sets out the core knowledge, skills, and capabilities expected of health informatics professionals across the region — and underpins the CHIA certification. AIDH is currently working on a significant update to the framework, due for release in early 2027, to reflect the rapid changes reshaping the health informatics workforce. The updated framework will provide a contemporary benchmark for practitioners, educators, and employers alike.

Clinical Informatics Fellowship (CIF) Development
AIDH is continuing to develop and strengthen the Clinical Informatics Fellowship — a program designed to grow the next generation of clinical leaders in digital health. This work involves refining the program structure, building partnerships with health services, and expanding the fellowship’s reach. Our goal is to ensure the CIF remains a world-class pathway for clinicians looking to lead in the digital health space.

AIDH works in partnership with the Australian Digital Health Agency to deliver on key elements of the National Digital Health Capability Action Plan (CAP) — a sector-wide strategy to build digital health skills and knowledge across Australia’s health workforce. HPAB Grant Projects — Policy and Advocacy
Through funding from the Health Policy Advisory Body (HPAB), AIDH’s policy and advocacy, and workforce teams are working together with key experts to lead projects that explore key issues at the intersection of digital health policy and practice.
