Hosted by the WA state branch
2020 heralded a big change for WA’s digital health journey with the Electronic Medical Record program officially kicking off with formal support from the government to put a business case together. Last year, the Department of Health EMR Program Team presented their vision for the approach and principles to develop this program. 12 months on, the team is returning to share how the journey has progressed, what their next steps will be, and what this means for the people of WA.
Healthcare in a Virtual Environment (HIVE) was also launched in 2020 at East Metropolitan Health Service and was the first model of care of its kind in WA. The system uses continuous physiological monitoring with artificial intelligence and dedicated HIVE clinicians to detect early signs of deterioration in hospital inpatients. Having rolled it out progressively over the last 12 months, the team will share lessons learnt from implementing the system, benefits they have seen for patients and clinicians, and where HIVE will be expanding into next.
