Australia’s National Digital Health Strategy 2023–2028 and an accompanying Strategy Delivery Roadmap, which set the vision and pathway for our digital health future, were released last week by the strategy’s custodian, the Australian Digital Health Agency.

The strategy places people at the centre of a connected and digitally enabled healthcare system. It seeks to achieve four key health system outcomes that will improve the wider Australian health system by creating a more connected, person-centred digital health system and by realising the benefits digital technology offers consumers and carers, health care providers, the wider community, governments, industry and providers.

AIDH will play a key role in the strategy and roadmap to enable a digitally ready workforce.

AIDH is currently refining the digital health workforce readiness framework for organisations to self-assess and plan their digital health workforce development. We will be enhancing the online hub to host and connect curated digital health workforce content, and developing resources for digital health learning, education and practice.

AIDH will also continue to pilot and evaluate the Australian digital health capability framework self-assessment tools to gain insights into the readiness of the workforce, aiming to enhance the digital health skills of health and care professionals.
