About the speakers

The webinar will feature a presentation by Professor Karin Verspoor FAIDH, Executive Dean, School of Computing Technologies, RMIT. A computer scientist whose research focuses on computational techniques, Karin has been applying AI skills in the biomedical domain for 20 years, addressing problems from information extraction of biological concepts and events to using text mining to support interpretation of biological data, to detection and prediction of disease from clinical data.

The webinar will include a panel session featuring AI experts including University of Melbourne Associate Dean of Digital Health and Informatics, and Director of the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health, Professor Wendy Chapman, also an AIDH Board member. Her research aims to leverage data and digital technology to transform healthcare delivery.

Another panellist is Dimitry Tran, co-founder of Australia’s largest healthcare AI company, Harrison.ai, whose radiology AI technology is approved as medical devices in Australia, Europe and the US and can detect hundreds of findings in chest X-ray and CT brain scans. The technology is used in hospitals and clinics throughout Australia, the UK and Asia, benefitting over one million patients a year.
