Deploying medical apps to clinicians’ phones: what happens behind the scenes?

When it comes to sharing patient information, there’s a lack of approved alternatives to non-compliant apps on mobile phones. With their ever-increasing workloads, clinicians need access to safe applications that follow best practice and policy to expedite their communication ability.

In a session with AEHRC’s Janardhan Vignarajan, hear about the team’s journey to successfully deliver two clinical mobile apps to hospitals in Western Australia.

A Healthy Smile: user-friendly tech for remote assessment of children’s teeth

Despite great progress in oral health in recent decades, tooth decay is still the leading chronic childhood disease, affecting almost half of Australian children. The impact of tooth decay can be reduced through regular check-ups, early detection and intervention. But reaching out to all Australian children to conduct dental check-ups is challenging and costly.

In a session with AEHRC’s Dr Mohamed Estai, hear about how the use of dental photography in remote dental screening can offer a practical, low-cost and reliable alternative to visual examination. He’ll also discuss how the use of smartphones in decay detection from photographs in asymptomatic children can enable continued preventive dental care even throughout the crisis-related health services shutdowns.
